Jerome A. Wehr, M.D.
Board Certified Family Medicine
Dr. Jerry Wehr comes to us from Iowa with over 35 years of family medicine experience. As a family physician in a rural community, he has done it all. Besides being active in the community and in his church, he delivered babies, made home visits, worked in the ER, comforted patients at the end of life, and managed patients of all ages in his office and the hospital. As a medical officer in the US Air Force many years ago, Major (Dr.) Wehr was selected to be the Chief Medical Officer for Queen Elizabeth of England during her brief visit to California.
Dr. Wehr graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA, with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. He attended medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, IA, and finished his family medicine residency at St. Luke’s Continuing Medical Education Program in Cedar Rapids, IA, in 1981. He spent the next four years as a medical officer practicing family medicine at Castle Air Force Base in California before returning to Iowa. Dr. Wehr spent over 30 years in Grinnell, IA, caring for patients and raising his family of four beautiful children. He has maintained his board certification in family medicine since 1981. Throughout his career, Dr. Wehr has been a continuous member of the American Academy of Family Medicine and the American Medical Association.
His wife, Dr. Soraya Rodriguez, is the Medical Lab Director and Pathologist for Tampa Community Hospital. They enjoy biking, traveling, attending fine arts events, and playing pickleball.
