What is a Walk In Clinic?
In the past names such as walk in clinic, after hours clinic, immediate care clinic and minor emergency clinic have been used to describe urgent care. All of these names refer to what we do: We take care of minor emergencies and medical problems outside of the offices of a primary care doctor.
The name “urgent care facility” is the more modern way to describe a walk in clinic, and reflects the maturation of the discipline. As urgent care has grown from simple extended hours it has become a field of its own that focuses on injuries and illnesses which are not life threatening.
Common illnesses and injuries seen in our center include colds, cough, broken bones (fractures), lacerations (cuts), rashes, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, staph infections including MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staph. Aureus) and a myriad of other ailments. Urgent care doctors typically have a background in family medicine or emergency medicine and have focused their practice to acute injury and illness.
The same can be said of the board-certified providers at TGH Urgent Care powered by Fast Track.
